Cape Town is a city full of inequality, and as a queer white person living in the City Bowl, I’m often struck by the inequality of safety. Behaviour that hardly gets a second glance in my neighbourhood, is enough to get a woman murdered and raped in another.

I’ll be joining the M.I.S.S Jazz Funeral at the Cape Town Pride march this month, because the victims of LGBTIAQ related hate crimes should not be forgotten at one of the most important events on the queer calendar.
