I Too Happen

Selfies-B&W

When I take a selfie I’m in ultimate control of my self image.

It’s safe. I’m shielded by a photograph that communicates everything I’m hoping to express in that moment: Confidence, strength, style, gender, identity.

But the act of taking a selfie is an admission of vulnerability.

By participating in the practice, I’m unwittingly letting everyone know how desperately I want to matter.
